For the Myst 2020/2021 project, I was responsible for designing and creating all the Linking Books, Journal Books, and Trap Books. My role involved reimagining the book covers to be visually compelling while staying true to the game's iconic aesthetic. To reinforce the individuality of each Age, we introduced unique emblems for the Linking and Journal Books, blending graphic design with 3D artistry to enhance their presence in the game world.
In addition to the covers, I meticulously recreated many of the original journal sketches in high resolution. The originals were of low quality, so I produced detailed, modernized versions suitable for both in-game use and potential marketing applications. Some sketches required updates to reflect the revised environments of the remake, ensuring they remained authentic to the spirit of the original while accurately portraying the redesigned worlds.
Contributing to the visual storytelling and creating new iconography for these legendary locations was both an exciting challenge and a privilege. This project allowed me to combine artistic creativity with technical precision, delivering assets that enrich the immersive experience of Myst for a new generation of players.
Additionally, I collaborated with the localization team to implement the localized journal textures for 10 languages, ensuring the game's narrative could be experienced authentically by a global audience.
