Achenar's Mechanical Rooms (Myst 2020/2021)
Reimagining Achenar's bedroom in the Mechanical Age was an exciting opportunity to breathe new life into the original design while preserving its unsettling essence. I focused on enhancing the visual narrative by redesigning the weapons to feel more cohesive and creating a dedicated display space that reflects Achenar's dark personality.
While the props themselves align with Achenar's twisted nature, players paying close attention will uncover layers of environmental storytelling that hint at the devices’ grim purposes. One particular detail — the mounted monkey head — serves as a subtle callback to another Age, offering a chilling connection for those observant enough to notice.
This process challenged me to balance realism with the eerie tone that defines Achenar's character. I believe the final result captures a moderately unsettling and immersive atmosphere, staying true to the spirit of Myst.

In VR you are able to pickup and use each weapon. The Crossbow even fires arrows!
The monkey head was done in Z Brush.
the chest starts off closed, but if you open the lid you get a hint at the dark story that previously unfolded.
